Deion Sanders is trying to shore up the offensive line in Boulder, as Tyler Johnson committed to Colorado on Saturday.

Johnson comes to Colorado from Houston by way of the transfer portal. He played in 23 games over the last two years with the Cougars. Johnson previously spent 2019-2021 with Texas.

Johnson is the second offensive line transfer to commit to the Buffaloes in the month of December, joining former UConn player Yakiri Walker.

Offensive line struggles were rampant in Sanders’ first year. The Buffaloes ranked dead last in the Pac-12 in sacks allowed with 4.7 per game. Colorado also had the second-most tackles for loss allowed in the conference with 7.2 per game.

Bringing in some experienced help in the trenches is how Sanders is trying to fix the offensive line in Boulder.

The Buffaloes weren’t able to win enough games to qualify for a bowl berth in Sanders’ first year. Colorado ended the year with a brutal six-game losing streak to finish at 4-8.
