Colorado safety Mark Perry enters transfer portal, per report
The Buffaloes have lost another member of the secondary.
Starting safety Mark Perry has put his name into the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. Perry will join star cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who entered the portal shortly before Christmas, as attrition on the defense side of the ball continues to hit the secondary.
Perry started all 12 games for the Buffs in 2021 and had a team-leading three picks. The California native finished third on the team with 72 tackles. This most recent season was easily the best for the junior defender. He played right away in 2019 and then started all five games for CU in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, but consistency was an issue.
His Colorado career will end with 94 tackles produced, six tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and three interceptions.
At 6-feet, 200 pounds, Perry was a 3-star prospect in the 247 Composite coming out of high school in the 2019 class. He chose the Buffs over offers from four other Pac-12 programs and a trio of Big 12 teams. With Perry now headed for the exit door, the Buffs will have seen more than a dozen players opt for the transfer portal since October.
