Colorado has dropped its Week 1 depth chart.

The Buffaloes welcome TCU to Folsom Field next Friday. A week ahead of that matchup, we have our first look at the team’s depth chart. Buffzone’s Brian Howell shared the depth chart on Twitter.

The most notable spot — the quarterback — remains undecided.

According to Howell, head coach Karl Dorrell doesn’t expect to announce the team’s starter ahead of next week’s opener. The team will know who the No. 1 is and the team will prepare accordingly, but Dorrell doesn’t want to make that info public. You’re welcome, TCU.

Brendon Lewis is competing with JT Shrout for the job. Both have the “OR” designation next to their name on the depth chart.

Lewis was the team’s full-time starter last season as Shrout recovered from injury. Though he struggled, Lewis drew some pretty lofty praise from his teammates at Pac-12 Media Day for the work he put in over the offseason to improve his game. The third-year Texas native completed 58% of his passes for 1,540 yards and 10 touchdowns against three interceptions a year ago. The turnovers were limited, but so too were the risks taken.

Shrout is entering his fifth college season — he spent three years at Tennessee.

“They both competed really hard and really had the same statistical numbers,” Dorrell said, per CU’s Neill Woelk. “It was very close. We feel good that they kind of feed off each other. That’s why we’re trying to leave our options open. They understand what we’re trying to do from a game plan standpoint and just like I told them, they’re both going to play.”

The Buffs and Horned Frogs play at 7 p.m. PT on ESPN next Friday.
