Colorado suffered the loss of one of its highest-rated commitments in the class of 2024 recently.

According to Greg Biggins with 247 Sports, 4-star athlete Aaron Butler out of Calabasas (CA) High School is reopening his recruitment. Butler originally committed to the Buffs in May but is examining his options.

At the time of Butler’s decision, he was the third-highest pledge in Colorado’s 2024 recruiting class. The 247 Sports Composite rates Butler as the No. 105 player in the country.

According to Biggins, Butler is currently talking to a trio of schools made up of Washington, Texas and Arizona. Butler had an unofficial visit to Washington during the Apple Cup, but the Huskies would need to open a scholarship for a WR to make room for Butler.

“Right now, it depends on if a couple of receivers go pro early,” Butler said. “If Ja’Lynn Polk were to leave early, that would open up a spot for me. If not, they would have to take a scholarship away from a defensive position. So there’s still things to work out there.”

As for Arizona, Butler spoke positively of the connections there and his interaction with head coach Jedd Fisch:

“I did a Zoom call with coach Fisch and we spent 90 minutes watching film,” Butler said. “He’s the only head coach I’ve done that with. He showed me how I fit in and I loved how he broke things down for me.”

Butler is listed at 6-feet and 170 pounds as the No. 6 ATH in the country and 13th overall player out of California for the cycle. Regardless of where he winds up, Butler could prove to be a difference-maker at the next level.
