Colorado loses commitment from blue-chip 2025 receiver
Colorado pledge Winston Watkins Jr., a 2025 wide receiver from Naples (Fla.) First Baptist, re-opened his recruitment on Sunday.
The 5-foot-10 wideout initially pledged to Colorado right after Deion Sanders was hired. He had been in the class since Dec. 4, 2022, but has since picked up offers from schools like Oregon and Michigan. Watkins was also a one-time Texas A&M commit but left the Aggies class in mid-November 2022.

Watkins was ranked as the No. 13 receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 74 overall prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite.
The departure leaves Colorado with two known commitments in the 2025 class — 4-star Georgia quarterback Antwann Hill and 3-star Florida running back Jamarice Wilder.
The 2024 class has also been a bit slow to get off the ground, but after the complete roster overhaul Colorado underwent in Sanders’ first offseason, a smaller 2024 group seems likely. The Buffs have 10 known commitments in the 2024 class — a group that ranks 63rd nationally.
After a 34-31 loss to Arizona at home in Week 11, Colorado has dropped four straight and six of its last seven games.
