Colorado has landed a commitment from Milledgeville (Ga.) Baldwin running back Micah Welch.

A 5-foot-9, 210-pound runner in the 2024 class, Welch picked the Buffs over Indiana and West Virginia, among others. He was in Boulder over the weekend on an official visit and was scheduled to go to Indiana later this month for an official. He visited West Virginia the first weekend of June.

In the end, the Buffs won out.

Welch was a bellcow back for Baldwin as a junior, when he ran for 1,373 yards (6.1 average) and 16 touchdowns on 226 carries. He also had a receiving touchdown and a kickoff return for a score. For his efforts, he was named the Georgia Region 4-AAAA Offensive Player of the Year and landed on the all-state first team.

As a sophomore, Welch ran for 19 touchdowns and 988 yards (7.1 per carry) in nine games.

Welch is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked No. 461 overall, as well as the No. 40 running back in the class. He gives CU its eighth known commitment to the 2024 class and its third verbal pledge in as many days. You can view his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
