Karl Dorrell has a plan at quarterback. Like with the opener, he has no interest in sharing that plan with the public.

Colorado went into its first game of the season last week tight-lipped on its quarterback battle. Both Brendon Lewis and JT Shrout played, but Lewis drew the start. Fans were calling for Shrout during and after the game. In the run-up to a Week 2 road matchup with Air Force, Dorrell isn’t committing to either guy.

According to BuffZone’s Brian Howell, Dorrell said Monday they won’t discuss the quarterback plan with the media, but added, “We know both of those guys need a lot of work.”

Lewis went 13-for-18 in his 2022 debut, throwing for 78 yards in the 38-13 loss. He did finish as CU’s leading rusher with 42 yards, including the Buffs’ longest run of the night.

Shrout breathed life into CU’s offense when he was inserted into the game, looking to push the ball downfield more than Lewis and giving the overall offense an injection of energy. He completed 13 of 23 attempts for 157 yards while directing CU’s only touchdown drive of the evening.

Colorado (0-1) plays Air Force (1-0) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT on CBS.
