Colorado football loses veteran DB to transfer portal
Another Colorado player decided to try out the transfer portal on Thursday. This time, it was a defensive back.
Nigel Bethel Jr. transferred into the Colorado program after starting his college career at Miami. Bethel played in 15 games for the Buffaloes from 2020-2022. Bethel compiled 14 total tackles, 1 interception, and 3 pass deflections at Colorado.
Bethel confirmed the news from his Twitter account.
I’m Officially in the transfer portal

Colorado had three more players enter the portal on Wednesday, and now has 25 open scholarships. The amount of players exiting the Colorado program via the portal has been insane. That number is now close to 50 with more than 20 players leaving following the spring game on Saturday.
Deion Sanders spoke about the recent roster turnover by saying “Y’all just don’t know what we got coming!”
Colorado had an abysmal year in 2022, only finishing with a single win. That victory was a 20-13 win over Cal in overtime. It looks like Coach Prime is trying to change the culture in Boulder, no matter the cost.
The last time that Colorado played in a bowl game was during the shortened COVID-19 season in 2020. The Buffaloes faced Texas in the Alamo Bowl and lost 55-23.
If Sanders can reach a bowl game in his first season it would go a long way.
