Colorado adds another former Jackson State playmaker from transfer portal
Colorado is once again the landing spot for a former Jackson State playmaker.
It’s certainly a positive sign for Sanders that all of the guys who played for him with the Tigers want to move across the country to play for him once again at Colorado. Eight players from Jackson State’s 2022 roster have now transferred to or committed to transfer to Colorado to reunite with Coach Prime, with the latest coming late Tuesday night from wide receiver Willie Gaines.
Gaines began his career at Dodge City (Kan.) Community College before landing at JSU. He’ll have two years of eligibility with the Buffs.

Last season, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Gaines was the fourth-leading receiver at Jackson State, hauling in 446 yards on 27 catches. He produced five touchdowns and posted the best yards-per-catch clip of anyone on the team (16.5).
He also served as the Tigers’ primary punt returner, netting 169 yards on 21 returns.
Gaines becomes Colorado’s 28th known scholarship transfer during the 2023 offseason. You can see some of his tape below:
