California added another offensive lineman from the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Spencer Lovell, a 6-foot-6 interior line transfer from Pac-12 foe Arizona State, announced his intention to transfer to Cal. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Lovell arrived at Arizona State in 2018 and spent the bulk of his career as a reserve. He entered the portal on April 28 after spending the spring period working in a competition for a starting guard spot along the ASU offensive line.

After seeing fewer than 30 combined snaps during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Lovell was a major rotation piece on the line last year. He played 276 snaps, all at right guard, and earned a 90.0 pass-blocking grade from PFF. That was the third-best pas-blocking grade for any Pac-12 lineman.

Lovell is the second transfer portal addition for the Golden Bears along the offensive line in the last three days. The Bears added former Montana State tackle TJ Session on Sunday.
