It’s a special weekend for Cal.

The 125th edition of the Big Game arrives on Saturday. The Golden Bears host Stanford looking to end a six-game losing streak on the year, but you know what they say about rivalry games. This year’s Big Game also marks 40 years since “The Play” occurred, an anniversary that is set to be commemorated with a statue unveiling outside California Memorial Stadium prior to kick.

So we might as well get some new uniforms to boot. Cal announced a new alternate on Thursday, and they’re excellent.

The Bears will be rocking yellow pants, navy tops, and yellow lids with the script Cal on the sides. Both the jersey and the pants also feature an axe embroidered on them.

Here’s a closer look at the helmet:

The uniform release was met with near-universal excitement from fans on social media.

The Cardinal lead the series all-time, but the Bears have won two of the last three matchups. Last year’s 41-11 demolition of Stanford on The Farm marked Cal’s largest margin of victory against the Cardinal since a 41-6 win in Berkeley in 2004.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
