Cal transfer graduates from previous school, will be eligible for 2023-24 season
Cal basketball has had a strong offseason following one of the worst seasons in program history. New head coach Mark Madsen got straight to work, adding 5 transfers out of the portal to revamp a roster that finished 2022-23 with just 3 wins.
On Saturday, Texas Tech transfer Fardaws Aimaq officially graduated from TTU, making him a graduate transfer and therefore eligible to suit up for the Golden Bears next season.
Aimaq previously transferred from Utah Valley to Texas Tech after transferring from Mercer to Utah Valley. Madsen was Aimaq’s coach at Utah Valley in both 2021 and 2022. Now, the 2 will be reuniting in Berkeley.
Cal’s Fardaws Aimaq has graduated from Texas Tech and is immediately eligible to play during the 2023-24 college basketball season, per a school spokesman. 6-11 big man averaged 11.1 PPG and 7.9 RPG last season in 11 games for Texas Tech.

As you can see above, Aimaq had a strong season in the Big 12 last year when he saw the court. The 6-11 big man played in just 11 games for the Red Raiders while battling a foot injury.
Aimaq averaged 11 points and nearly 8 rebounds per game when he did see the court, though. And that’s in a tough conference such as the Big 12.
He joins fellow Texas Tech transfer Jaylon Tyson, Northern Arizona PG transfer Jalen Cone, Memphis transfer Keonte Kennedy and Portland PG transfer Mike Meadows.
This will be Aimaq’s final season of eligibility.
