Cal went into the Lone Star State on Tuesday to land a commitment from Trophy Club (Texas) Byron Nelson linebacker Eze Osondu.

Osondu, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker, announced his commitment to the Golden Bears on his social media. He’s scheduled to take an official visit to Berkeley later this month but decided to pull the trigger a bit early.

He has reported five scholarship offers, with Cal being the lone Power Five program in the mix. Osondu also holds offers from Arkansas State, Miami (OH), Liberty, and Colgate.

Osondu doesn’t yet have a grade in the industry-generated 247 Composite, though that’ll likely change soon now that he’s in a P5 class. He’s seen his stock soar since the spring, with all five of his offers coming since the beginning of March.

247Sports has him tabbed as a 3-star prospect and the No. 93 linebacker in the class.

As a junior last fall, he occasionally played with his hand on the ground as a defensive end, and showed off a knack for making plays in the backfield. He was credited with 39 tackles, eight tackles for loss, seven sacks, and a forced fumble.

He becomes Cal’s fourth known commitment in the 2024 cycle. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
