Ben Finley was one of the quarterbacks to have transferred out of the N.C. State football program this offseason. On Wednesday he announced his next stop.

Finley will be playing for a Pac-12 team in 2023. That team will be the California Golden Bears. Finley is now the second former N.C. State QB to find a new home. Devin Leary committed to Kentucky back in December.

Finley was a former 3-star QB from the class of 2020 per the 247Sports Composite. Cal did not recruit Finley as a high schooler, but he still received offers from Pac-12 teams like Arizona and Arizona State.

The former N.C. State QB appeared in eight total games from 2020-2022. Finely compiled 912 yards passing with 4 touchdowns and 5 interceptions during that time as well.

Cal could not reach a bowl game this past season, finishing the year at 4-8. The last time that the Golden Bears played in a bowl game was back in 2019. Cal beat Illinois in the Redbox Bowl that season.

N.C. State reached the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and faced Maryland. The Wolfpack ended up losing to the Terps 16-12 as Finley recorded 269 yards passing.

Cal HC Justin Wilcox will have a decision to make when it comes to his quarterback in 2023 after Jack Plummer hit the transfer portal in December.

Is Finley the right man for the job?
