Tetairoa McMillan is your Pac-12 Freshman of the Week following a career-high five-catch, 90-yard performance in the Wildcats’ 43-20 win over Colorado on Saturday.

McMillan earned his first Pac-12 weekly honor with the Freshman of the Week selection. McMillan becomes the second Wildcat to win this award since it was created prior to the 2019 season. QB Grant Gunnell was honored in Week 5 of the 2019 season.

McMillan’s lone touchdown reception put the Wildcats up 33-13 with 8:10 left in the third quarter and capped a six-play, 80-yard drive on a 23-yard pass from Jayden de Laura. McMillan was one of five Wildcats to catch a touchdown pass during de Laura’s six-touchdown performance, which tied an Arizona single-game record.

The 6-foot-5 wideout also completed a pass to de Laura on a trick play that went 11 yards down the Buffaloes’ sideline.

A freshman from Waimanalo, Hawaii, McMillan has 290 receiving yards and three touchdowns through five games. When he signed with the program, he was expected to be an immediate difference-maker for the UA, and he’s been exactly that. McMillan leads all Pac-12 true freshmen in receiving yards (290) and touchdowns (3) while averaging 18.1 yards per catch and tied for first in receptions (16). His receiving yardage also ranks third nationally among freshmen receivers, redshirt or otherwise.

So far this season, four different Wildcats have earned weekly honors from the Pac-12. De Laura took home the Offensive Player of the Week honor for his role in the Cats’ Week 1 win over San Diego State. Jalen Harris and Hunter Echols have both earned Defensive Lineman of the Week awards.

The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday when they host No. 12 Oregon. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
