Paulius Murauskas will play for Arizona, his Lithuanian team and the Wildcats announced on Wednesday.

Murauskas signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Wildcats as a freshman for the 2023-24 season. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged a tournament-high 20.7 points per game at the FIBA U18 European Championship last summer while also grabbing six rebounds and handing out 2.7 assists. He scored 32 points in 28 minutes of the seventh-place game against Israel.

“Paulius has developed in one of the top youth systems in Europe and has had success at all levels,” coach Tommy Lloyd said in a release. “He is a dynamic forward that continues our emphasis on recruiting the best student-athletes we can from around the world. He is just scratching the surface of his potential, so we are excited to welcome to our program and look forward to helping him grow all areas of his game.”

The Arizona Daily Star reported that Murauskas was loaned from Zalgiris to Lietkabelis last season so he could gain experience in Lithuania’s top league.
