Arizona’s new basketball uniforms are here, and Sean Elliott wasn’t lying when he said they were “too smooth.”

The program unveiled a new set of uniforms for the 2022-23 season on Wednesday, and they’re a look that draws plenty of inspiration from the past, with nods to legendary head coach Lute Olson and the 1988 Arizona team that made the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance.

Elliott and Steve Kerr introduced the jerseys in a video reveal:

The home whites and road blues feature a design loosely based on the same uniforms Wildcat teams wore in the mid-1980s and into the early 1990s. The font for the wordmark across the front of the jerseys hails from that era and the shorts also feature the word ‘CATS’ on the right side with the modern Block ‘A’ logo on the left.

On the bottom hem of the inside back of the jersey, Olson’s name is embroidered in gold letters. The fan-favorite ‘cactus’ logo also returns on the front of the shorts’ waistband.

The blue uniforms will be available for fans to order online or in-person at Arizona bookstores soon. Fans can sign up to be notified when they’re available for purchase by going HERE.

The Wildcats will wear the new uniforms for the first time at the First Watch Red-Blue Game on Friday, Sept. 30.
