Arizona set to face off against Big 12 power in Alamo Bowl
Arizona (9-3) will face No. 12 Oklahoma (10-2) in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 at 6:15 p.m. PT on ESPN. The game will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
No. 14 Arizona will be designated as the home team, but it figures to be a very pro-Oklahoma crowd. This will be the Wildcats’ first trip to the Alamo Bowl since 2010. It’ll also be the third-ever meeting with Oklahoma.
With the Sooners leaving the Big 12 after this season and Arizona set to enter, it’s a little past vs. future in the Alamo Bowl.
Oklahoma has been the most consistently dominant team in the Big 12 over the last two decades. Though the Sooners didn’t play for a conference title this season, they still beat the team that won the Big 12 on a neutral field and recorded the program’s 19th 10-win season since 2000.
The Sooners opened the year 7-0 before suffering back-to-back road losses to Kansas and Oklahoma State.
They’re led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has 3,660 yards passing with 30 touchdowns and just six interceptions this season.
Arizona is as hot as any team in the country. The Wildcats have won six straight games heading into the postseason. A win in the Alamo Bowl would give Arizona its fourth 1o-win season in program history.
