Arizona lands transfer commitment from former Tennessee defensive back
Arizona received a transfer pledge from former Tennessee defensive back Jack Luttrell on Monday.
A 6-foot, 180-pound safety from Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County, Luttrell signed with the Volunteers out of the 2023 class as a 3-star prospect. He initially picked the Vols over Colorado, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Arkansas, among others.
But he took a redshirt during his first season in Knoxville and did not appear in a game. He’ll move to Tucson with all four years of eligibility still intact.

While at Colquitt County, Luttrell made plays on both sides of the football. He had 850 yards receiving, 495 yards rushing, 247 yards passing, 280 yards as a punt returner, and another 1,061 yards as a kick returner. On defense, he compiled 211 tackles, five interceptions and eight pass breakups. He scored 10 touchdowns on offense, three on special teams, and returned an interception for a score on defense.
In the industry-generated 247 Composite, he was rated as the No. 83 safety in the class.
At Arizona, he’ll move to a safety room that returns both Gunner Maldonado and Dalton Johnson.
He’s the third transfer player to publicly pledge to the program, joining defensive lineman Chubba Maae (UC Davis) and defensive back Jordan Shaw (Indiana).
