Arizona added a pair of transfers to its defense for the 2024 season on Monday.

Former Indiana defensive back Jordan Shaw revealed his commitment to the UA on social media Monday evening. About an hour later, former UC Davis defensive lineman Chubba Maae did the same. They’re the first two incoming transfers to publicly announce commitments to the Wildcats.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Shaw spent one season with the Hoosiers after signing as a 3-star recruit out of the 2023 class. He had 12 tackles and a pass breakup in four appearances for IU. He made two starts in conference play late in the year while still preserving his redshirt.

He should have four years of eligibility still and figures to provide depth to a secondary that returns key players all over. Ephesians Prysock, Tacario Davis, and Treydan Stukes are all expected back after featuring this fall.

Maae plugs a hole in the middle of the defensive line. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 350 pounds and had a successful career at UC Davis.

He earned Big Sky Conference Co-Freshman of the Year and a spot on the all-conference second team in 2021. Then he was an All-Big Sky Third Team selection in 2022 and returned to the Second Team this fall.

In 36 games, he racked up 59 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, and a blocked kick.
