Azuolas Tubelis was one of 15 players named to the late-season watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy on Thursday.

Members of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association’s (USBWA) board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the Year. Tubelis was one of two players on the list to come from the Pac-12, joined by UCLA forward Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Others on the late-season watch list for the award include North Carolina’s Armando Bacot, Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis, Memphis’s Kendric Davis, Purdue’s Zach Edey, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Marquette’s Tyler Kolek, Iowa’s Kris Murray, Penn State’s Jalen Pickett, Houston’s Marcus Sasser, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe, Kansas’s Jalen Wilson, and Alabama’s Brandon Miller.

Tubelis leads the Pac-12 in scoring and rebounding and is looking to become just the seventh player in the history of the conference to pull off that feat in a season, joining the likes of college basketball icons Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton.

The Lithuanian forward has 11 double-doubles this season as well as a remarkable 40-point performance in a win over Oregon on Feb. 2. In addition to the Oscar Robertson Trophy, Tubelis is also one of 10 finalists for the Karl Malone Award (given to the nation’s top power forward) and is on the Naismith Trophy Midseason Watch List.

The USBWA has voted on the award since the 1958-59 season. It’s the oldest National Player of the Year Award in the country and named after two-time USBWA award winner Oscar Robertson.

The winner of the 2022-23 Oscar Robertson Trophy will be announced at the Final Four in Houston next month.
