Arizona basketball is the No. 1 team in the country according to AP voters.

The undefeated Wildcats played just once this past week, easily dispatching a good Colgate team 82-55. The Wildcats jumped from No. 2 last week to snag the No. 1 spot following a loss by Purdue to unranked Northwestern.

There are few resumes as impressive as Arizona’s across college basketball so far this season. Tommy Lloyd’s crew have downed Duke and Michigan State away from Tucson with sneaky good wins over strong mid-major programs such as Belmont and Colgate.

And the Wildcats’ tough non-conference run is just getting started. Wisconsin comes to town on December 9, followed by 3 straight top-15 KenPom opponents: Purdue, Alabama and FAU.

But don’t bet against the Wildcats just because the going is about to get tough. If Arizona continues to get what it has seen from Pelle Larsson, Kershad Johnson and Oumar Ballo, they’ll be tough to stop.

Perhaps the most underappreciated improvement from last year’s team comes at the point. Kylan Boswell has been the truth for Arizona this season with Kerr Kriisa now at West Virginia. He’s been one of the best 3-point shooters in the nation and has shown to be an excellent passer as well as a true scoring threat.
