I believe the exact phrase is “To the victor goes the right to roast the loser on Twitter.”

That is particularly true when the contest is a trophy game between two teams that really don’t like each other. So it was no surprise to see Arizona’s social team set Arizona State on fire after Friday’s Territorial Cup win.

The Wildcats went into Friday’s contest expecting to run the ball, and Arizona State offered little resistance.

Tailback Mike Wiley ran for 214 yards and three scores on just 12 carries. As a team, the Wildcats went for 285 rushing yards (adjusted for sacks) at a ridiculous 10.6 yards a carry. It was the best rushing performance by the Wildcats in a game since running for 312 yards against Texas Tech in 2019 — a span of 48 games.

Doing so delivered the UA a fifth win just a year removed from a 1-11 campaign. The four-win improvement is the second-best improvement year-over-year in program history.
