Shawn Phillips, a 4-star recruit for LSU in the class of 2022 who entered the transfer portal nearly 3 weeks ago, has decided to commit to play in the Pac-12.

Phillips originally chose LSU over offers from programs like Miami, Kansas State and Georgetown. But this time, he committed to Arizona State.

Phillips was the No. 120 overall player and the No. 3 center in the country for the class of 2022, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Despite his pedigree as a prospect, Phillips was not able to carve out much playing time as a true freshman. He came off the bench in 20 games for the Tigers and averaged just 7.4 minutes per game, and produced 1.4 points and 2.2 rebounds. His best game came in an SEC Tournament win against Georgia when he played 25 minutes and produced his first career double-double with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 10 rebounds, including 6 offensive rebounds.

Beyond ASU, Phillips also heard from the likes of Georgia, Clemson, Michigan and Nebraska among 16 teams that reached out, according to 247Sports’ Dushawn London.
