Kenny Dillingham met with the media on Monday, days after a 42-28 loss to USC in Tempe.

The Sun Devils have gotten off to a rough start. At 1-3, they did defeat FCS Southern Utah to open the season, but that was a 21-14 contest after 3 quarters. They’ve lost 3 in a row to Oklahoma State, Fresno State, and now USC.

Dillingham has a tall task ahead of him at his alma mater after taking over a program that was 3-9 a season ago and will serve a bowl ban in 2023. As it turns out, he receives plenty of criticism inside his own home after games.

“My wife’s my hardest critic,” he said. “I say I’m my hardest critic. My wife, I go home, I hear her, and she’s competitive as all get out. She’s a Sun Devil, so she’s always asking ‘What happened on this? What happened on this? Why did you go for it?'”

Dillingham stated that he and his wife’s shared “passion for the game” makes their marriage “work”.

“I go home and it’s right back to work, from that perspective,” he laughed.
