Kenny Dillingham apologizes to Arizona State fans after Utah loss
Kenny Dillingham took the blame for Saturday’s 55-3 loss to Utah and placed it squarely on his shoulders.
“I did a bad job preparing our team today,” the Arizona State coach wrote in a post on social media. “But even in a loss, we will continue to improve, even if the improvement doesn’t always show.”
I did a bad job preparing our team today! But even in a loss we will continue to improve, even if the improvement doesn’t always show! That was a hell of a team we played today and kudos to them! Now time to get back to work and continue to improve every day! #SunDevil4LIFE… pic.twitter.com/plUXpicCM7

Arizona State was thoroughly handled by the Utes in Salt Lake City. The Sun Devils were coming off a 38-27 win over Washington State the previous weekend and had created some momentum on the defensive side of the football with their play.
But any momentum disintegrated inside Rice-Eccles Stadium. Arizona State finished with just 83 yards of offense — the second-worst day in program history. The team could not find any room on the ground to run and, down to its fourth-string quarterback, the ASU pass game was even less effective.
“Guys are frustrated, rightfully so, ticked off and that’s a good thing,” Dillingham told reporters after the game. “I don’t think our guys quit, but not being able to throw it, run it, or do anything offensively is tough. It’s hard to continue to get up and go when you can’t block them, the simplest piece, but I think the guys are going to continue to fight, which they did tonight.”
Arizona State (2-7, 1-5 Pac-12) heads to the Rose Bowl next weekend to face UCLA.
