Kenny Dillingham announces significant injury for key Arizona State OL
Kenny Dillingham is entering his first season as head coach at Arizona State while trying to turn around the Sun Devils program. Unfortunately, one key piece of the offense will be out for some time.
Dillingham announced Tuesday that Ben Coleman, an offensive lineman transfer out of Cal, sustained a lower leg injury and will miss the spring session. Coleman’s availability for later in the football season remains to be determined.
According to Chris Karpman with 247 Sports, Coleman was expected to start at LG for the Sun Devils. Karpman reported Coleman is expected to miss at least 6-7 months with his injury.
Dillingham also said somebody will need to “step up or step in” following the injury so we’ll see how Arizona State fills the role moving forward.
Dillingham said that somebody’s going to have to either “step up or step in.” In other words leaving the option open that ASU might have to seek someone from the portal since Coleman could miss at least half of the season. https://t.co/Y3mlqWF54C

Cal OL transfer Ben Coleman, who was expected to start at LG, is expected to miss at least 6-7 months due to a lower leg injury suffered in training before spring ball. Significant hit.
We might see ASU try to add another OL transfer after spring ball.

The Sun Devils finished 3-9 overall and have just 8 Pac-12 wins across the past two seasons. Hopefully, Dillingham can get things moving in a positive direction out of the gate.
