Arizona State freshman placekicker Carter Brown has been named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.

The conference announced weekly performance awards on Tuesday, selecting Brown as the special teams honoree after a perfect debut. In the Sun Devils’ 40-3 win over Northern Arizona, Brown was a perfect 4-for-4 on his field goals and 4-for-4 on PATs.

The 37-point win was Arizona State’s 20th consecutive home-opening victory. Brown got things rolling, scoring the team’s first points on a 27-yard attempt in the first quarter.

He would go on to make three more kicks, from 36 yards, 44 yards, and 44 again. In doing so, he became the first ASU kicker with four makes in their first game.

Brown is the first winner of the Special Teams Player of the Week honor since D.J. Taylor claimed it as a return man after the 2021 season opener.

Arizona State has had 31 Pac-12 Player of the Week selections under head coach Herm Edwards, the fifth-most in the conference since he began in Tempe.

Brown and the Sun Devils return to the field on Saturday when they battle the 11th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
