One Arizona State TE is the latest player from the Sun Devils program to announce a decision to head to the transfer portal.

The player is Jacob Newell, a member of the 2022 recruiting class. He announced his intentions Friday evening on social media:

“To Arizona State University, I want to thank the fans and everyone for the support and being there for us when things got rough,” Newell wrote. “Thank you coaches Juston Wood, Zak Hill and Herm Edwards for allowing me to achieve my dream of playing collegiate football at the highest level. After many conversations with my family, coaches and God I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left!”

Coming out of high school, the 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Newell was a 3-star recruit and the 59th TE prospect in the country per the 247 Sports Composite. He is the latest player to hit the portal as Kenny Dillingham deals with roster turnover during his first offseason with the Sun Devils.
