Arizona State scores two transfer portal commitments, BJ Green announces his return
It was a great day in Tempe for Arizona State football.
The Sun Devils double-dipped in the transfer portal with announcements from former Colorado State receiver Melquan Stovall and former Nevada offensive lineman Aaron Frost that they intend to transfer to Arizona State to be part of the new offense coach Kenny Dillingham is building.
Arizona State also got word from defensive lineman BJ Green that he’s taken his name out of the transfer portal and will return to ASU for the 2023 season.
Stovall’s announcement came first.

A 5-foot-8 slot wideout, Stovall spent three years at Nevada prior to moving to Colorado State. With the Wolf Pack in 2021, he had 56 catches for 643 yards and one score as the team’s third-leading receiver. In three seasons, he totaled 1,064 yards with 108 receptions.
For the Rams, he had just 13 catches for 106 yards in three games before leaving the team to enter the portal and preserve a redshirt year.

Frost was a two-time All-Mountain West second-team selection on the offensive line for the Wolf Pack. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman was a starter for 36 games in the three years prior to 2022, lining up primarily at right tackle. He did not play in 2022 after suffering a season-ending knee injury in preseason camp.

Green splashed as a freshman walk-on in 2021 and after a strong offseason, earned a scholarship heading into this most recent season. In a reserve role on the ASU defensive line, Green was one of the Pac-12’s best pass-rushers (according to Pro Football Focus). He had 37 total quarterback pressures in 314 total snaps.
With ASU losing TJ Pesefea, Nesta Jade Silvera, and Travez Moore to graduation, and losing Omarr Norman-Lott to the transfer portal, Green could be one of ASU’s most relied-upon defensive linemen next season.
He’s also the second defensive lineman to pull their name out of the portal, following Anthonie Cooper.
